Maker's Spotlight: Emerald Hearth
I am super excited to introduce you to one of my absolute favorite businesses, Emerald Hearth Creations, and the beautiful maker behind the biz, Brittney.
I was lucky enough to “meet” Brittney through a virtual market I hosted at the beginning of the pandemic (which now seems like forever ago). I was instantly drawn to her biz name, the mission behind it, and her beautiful packaging…then, I purchased one of her Goddess Rising candles, and my love grew ten-fold.
Since then, I’ve gotten to know Brittney a little more through Instagram chats and Zoom (don’t you just love technology, sometimes?) and I truly believe we are kindred spirits. She’s insanely talented, driven, passionate, and so easy to talk to.
Emerald Hearth candles smell amazing, are beautiful to look at, and you can truly feel the love and mission behind the product every time you light one! While candles are her main focus, Brittney also has a wonderful selection of ritual tools available, as well!
MEET THE MAKER
I'm Brittney! I'm the creatrix behind Emerald Hearth. Emerald Hearth Creations is an artisanal candle company that is founded on the deep desire to calm and balance the mind through scented expressions of nature and her whimsical elements. We specialize in luxurious, crystal infused, coconut and soy wax candles which are crafted in small batches to ensure the highest quality creations. Emerald Hearth uses sustainably sourced wax and eco-friendly ingredients which are always phthalate free! Each and every candle is delicately hand-poured and decorated to perfection.
What sets you apart from everyone else?
I believe that authenticity is one of the most important things in life and in business. I pour my heart and soul into Emerald Hearth. Each and every one of my candles are a little piece of my heart that's meant to invite balance and peace within your home. My authenticity sets me apart from everyone and you'll feel that with every detail and thought that I've put into my creations.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I was so tired of working for someone else and decided that I would begin building my own vision versus building someone else's dream.
Where do you gain inspiration from?
I gain my inspiration from my time in nature and meditation. I notice that my best ideas are able to surface when I have engaged in meditation and ongoing self care. I am also inspired by the Wheel of the Year. The pagan calendar inspires me to work in tandem with each season to share its unique scents and rituals.
What has been your biggest success to date?
I would say that my biggest success has been tuning into what lights up my soul and saying no to anything that doesn't align. I feel most successful when I am listening to my intuition. She never lies and has never been wrong. I believe that success can only begin with a solid foundation of awareness within ones mind and body. This awakening will inevitably lead me to any and all future success.
What's your favorite part of the creative process?
I love each and every part of the process. I can say that the most exciting part of the creative process is when an idea is ready to take form and flows easily from my thoughts into the form of a physical creation that I can share with everyone!
What are you most excited for with your business right now?
I am most excited to share my upcoming seasonal candles! Everyone who is on our email list will get notified first and then we will announce each official scent launch on our social media platforms. Who are your 3 favorite small businesses?
Ohmygosh. I'm not sure how I can pick just three. I am absolutely in love with OmMaker. She crafts the most magical pendants using electro-form as her medium. I wear one of her pieces daily. I'm also in love with Vintage Fusion Jewelry. She takes classic vintage jewelry and gives them a new life so they can be worn on a daily basis. Another small business that I'm very fond of is this adorable store called Redemption. The owner, Tammy, sources all California made products to support the local maker community. She has such an incredible eye for clothes, art and products. North Star Macrame is another small business that I swoon over. Laura, the talented creator, weaves the most magical wall hangings which usually infuse plants or crystals. One last small business that I just could gush about all day is; Earth Goddess Botanicals. I include the Trance pillow spray in my nightly ritual to help me feel calm and grounded before bedtime.
What's your favorite form of self-care?
My favorite form(s) of self-care would have to be meditation, escaping into nature or engaging with my tarot deck surrounded by candles. I also really love the ritual of creating a delicious meal from scratch. It's so hard to choose just one as I aspire to indulge in self-care on a daily basis!
